Wins of the Week: Dazzling accessories edition
I know most people talk about the dresses at awards show (and yeah, I do that too). But there were so many amazing accessories at the Golden Globes, I had to create a separate post for them.
While Michelle William’s had a pretty awesome headband, I loved Charlize Theron’s sparkly headband because I’m squirrel-like and can’t resist shiny objects.

The Big Winners
The clear winner of red carpet looks for me? Claire Danes’ monochromatic stunner. It seems fairly simple in the front, but then she gives an over the shoulder look, and the dress goes from simple to stunning.
Octavia Spencer was fantastic and just so sassy in The Help. And she was lovely in lilac on the red carpet.

I kind of dig Vanessa Hudgens’s art deco dress. It’s like she’s starring in her own flapper-esque dinner mystery theater. And while she’s trying to convince you she’s innocent, her dress clearly says I’ve got you trapped in my web of lies.

Whenever I see photos of the Duchess of York, I can’t help but wonder what goes on behind the scenes. She’s always perfectly coiffed in a neatly tailored ensemble with just a hint of trendiness. And she tops it off with that megawatt smile– no matter the location, event or time of day. Such perfection must be exhausting. How does she do it?
She sticks to a color palette
To flatter her complexion, the princess favors navy, neutrals and sometimes red. If she wears a pattern, it’s often black-and-white. On the rare occasion that she dons a bold color, she still wears her favorite neutral pumps.

FotW might be a misnomer as I’m not sure when this special aired. (I don’t live in the U.K. although I think it would be fab if I did.) But I just saw the video this week, so I guess it counts. And I have two different thoughts about Ms. Rowland’s outfit, and lucky you, I’m going to share both.
How to get windswept hair
It’s just good sense to know that eventually we’ll look back on today’s trends in horror (leggings, ahem!). But one thing I think we’ll love even in the future are today’s hairstyles. Hair right now is feminine, flow-y, voluminous, and –one of my faves– totally windswept.

Crack TV: ABC’s Once Upon a Time
I began watching ABC’s Once Upon a Time as a skeptic. My best friend (who’s hooked) told me the show was about fairy tale characters who are cursed by the Evil Queen to live in a miserable place without happy endings–aka our world. That sounds exactly like the plot of Enchanted, right? While I think that movie is adorable, I wouldn’t want to waste my time on such a cheesy TV series. But my best friend knows me all too well, and urged me to watch it with her.
And I did…I watched the first three episodes in row. Not afraid to say I’m addicted.
Much Ado About Denim Shirts
At first, I regarded the return of the denim button-down with horror: Another awful 90s trend?!
But on second glance, a denim shirt can be pretty cool when paired with the right accessories. Check it out:

I’ve been married for two and a half years, which means I should have at least two little brats by now. But I don’t, and I won’t for a while, because I’m not ready.

So while perusing Target’s website the other day (did you know that they offer “online prices” cheaper than in the store?) I was looking at dresses. And the models in said dresses are all posy like this:

You got your smiles and your tug of the dress and flip of the hand and stuff like that. But then this kept showing up.
